When responding to a casting call or submitting to a role, it is important to follow directions. If the listing asks for a recent snapshot, it's because we need to know what you look like today, not what your really great headshot from 5 years ago when you had more hair looks like. If the directions ask you to shoot your audition horizontally on your phone, it's because that's how it will look best when viewed on a computer by the client. If you ignore this detail, your audition may get disregarded altogether because you did not follow directions. Casting Directors need to ensure the talent who will ultimately get booked for the role can follow directions on set, so missing key details in the submission and audition process does not get you off to a great start and really lessens your chances of getting booked.
